up until now i've been downloading/burning a show with no problems.but the past couple times there's a interference/scratch
type noise that usually starts by the 5th or 6th track.
i've been using memorex(cdr-music)and roxio.
could it possibly be a bad batch of discs?
anyone have this happen?

ive had that happen with bad discs, but not if it is happening all the time. usually in a pack of 50, you are going to get a couple of clunkers - even with memorex which is a good brand.

either that or you DO have a dying burner.

but this has happened a couple times now(different packs)
we can't have that.

Not trying to hi-jack but I didn't want to start a new post for this either. Awhile back I think I messed up my computer by deleting windows player or some other sort of program. Now EVERY time I convert a file to wav, when I click on that file it gives me an error message and kicks me back to my desktop. I have to go into safe mode, then I can successfully move the files to burn. Any ideas? It's a pain in the arse.

just curious, what is the error message that you get when clicking on the .wav file? don't think i've had a similar problem, but one mostly sure way to resolve the issue, and it's a bitch to do, is to wipe your drive and reload windows and everything else, but leaving off windows media player, which quite frankly is a horrible program and is beset with problems; one should from time to time do a complete reinstall on a regular basis ... i do it once a year and though it's time consuming, it is always worth it

So the conversion goes good, but you have problems when you try to copy the file into your burning program's cue? Does the error happen with a single click on the WAV file or is it with a double click on the file?

thanks for responding. Yes, no problem with the conversion, the problem happens with ANY click on the file. I can't even right click to look at properties to troubleshoot it. At first I thought there was an association problem I could fix. So while I still think it's along those lines ( missing something ), I can't do anything with that file until I run in safe mode. In safe mode I can move and burn wav files with no problem.

I think I tried that, where exactly is that located? One problem I think I have is that I use a ( ahem, don't let big brother bill see this )copied version of 2000. Even when I load it I have to find additional video drivers etc.

agreed on NFA. Was a powerful tune for a LONG time before it got stale. I think some that had to do with the killer rhythm on the original Buddy Holly version being perfect for the Dead.

For a 'major' brand Memorex sucks. The ratio of good discs to coasters is horrible.

Is it kind of like a rythmic "tick, tick, tick" in the music? Your CD burner has finally worn out.

When mine was on it's last legs, the first few songs would be fine, but it would get worse and worse the further into the music.
